A Pittsburgh woman charged with providing what authorities believe was heroin to a friend who overdosed was entered into the county Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program in Butler County Court on Monday.

Kelly E. Croley, 41, was placed into the program with six months probation by Judge William Shaffer, on charges of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Croley was initially charged with 14 felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, intent to deliver drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct after an incident Jan. 15 in the 700 block of Ekastown Road.

Thirteen of the felony possession with intent charges were later withdrawn at the district court level, and the final possession with intent charge as well as the disorderly conduct count and the delivery of paraphernalia count were also later withdrawn.

Buffalo Township police filed the charges after emergency crews responded to the home for an overdose patient who was unresponsive on the floor.

Saxonburg EMS paramedics revived the woman, who later told police that she and Croley had snorted heroin in the bathroom, court documents said.

After ingesting the drug, investigators suspect, the woman collapsed in the living room.

Police said Croley admitted bringing the drugs with her to the home. Inside a makeup bag in the bathroom police found 14 stamp bags and two empty bags.

Croley was arrested and later released on her own recognizance.

Her attorney, Matthew Mlecko, said his client has been in treatment for several months, and is currently undergoing outpatient services. Croley told the court that she has been sober since Jan. 20.
