Verbal incident turns violent

EVANS CITY — Police arrested an Evans City woman for allegedly assaulting her husband at their home Saturday, after officers responded to reports of a domestic incident earlier that day.

Karla Kopp, 52, from Evans City is charged with assault and is in Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.

Officers from Evans City/Seven Fields Regional Police Department responded to reports of a verbal incident Sunday night and found Kopp in her living room after her husband had left with their 15 year-old son, documents say.

Kopp told officers that she and her husband argued over issues Kopp had with her sister-in-law sending him messages about Kopp “that she didn’t like,” documents say.

Kopp told officers that she was not harmed or threatened during the argument and asked officers to reach out to the sister to stop the threats, documents say.

At this time, police said, Kopp’s husband returned and one of the officers went to interview him while arresting officer Jamie Mondzelewski finished talking to Kopp.

Upon making contact with the husband, officers found he had been struck several times with a cell phone while lying in bed, documents say.

Mondzelewski reported the husband had a cut and red marks where he was struck.

Officers then arrested Kopp and took her to Butler County Prison.
