SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — Township officials will conduct a town-hall meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. May 14 to hear any concerns residents have about the proposed Floodplain Management Ordinance.

To meet federal requirements which allow residents to purchase flood insurance, Slippery Rock Township plans to adopt the ordinance and map.

Due to changes to the map, residents now may be in floodplain areas and have new requirements.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University’s master’s degree in health informatics has been ranked among the nation’s top 50 programs by bestcolleges.com.

Health informatics specialists work to establish and maintain the information technology systems within a health care organization.

Bestcolleges.com ranks schools based on the most recent data compiled from IPEDS and College Navigator, both of which are hosted by the National Center for Education Statistics.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University has been named a “Best Regional University-North” for 2018 by CollegeConsensus.com.

SRU, ranked No. 49, was the only institution from Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education to make the Top 50.

The methodology used by CollegeConsensus.com aggregates rankings and reviews from publications including U.S. News & World Report and Forbes to determine its publisher rating; while gathering student reviews from sites like Niche and Cappex to determine an overall student review. Together, the two combine to form the CollegeConsensus.com score.

[naviga:h3]Grange president to visit county[/naviga:h3]

CENTER TWP — The state Grange president will visit Butler County this month to speak at a town hall meeting.

Wayne Campbell will serve as the keynote speaker at the public town hall meeting at 7 p.m. May 21 at the Unionville Grange, 150 N. Benbrook Road.

The meeting, hosted by the Butler County Pomona Grange, is meant to educate residents on how to have a voice in local, state and national government regarding issues like agriculture, dairy farming, agribusiness, broadband Internet, tele-medicine and the opioid crisis.

Vince Phillips, a state legislative consultant, will also speak.

Refreshments will be available.
