Retail space, restaurant sought

The next phase of Cranberry Springs came before the Cranberry Township board of supervisors. It will include retail and a restaurant.
Public hearing held for Cranberry Springs

CRANBERRY TWP — The next phase of the Cranberry Springs development may include retail and a restaurant.

Supervisors recently held a public hearing for a conditional use application for the development

Specifically there were changes to phase 1-D-2, said Jordan Holloway, land development specialist for the township. Phase 1-D-2 is in the southeast quadrant around the roundabout on Cranberry Springs Drive.

The developer, Gary Sippel, is proposing two multi-tenant buildings, a 10,224-square-foot retail building and a 4,003-square-foot retail and restaurant building with outdoor patio space.

Jim Venture, principal with PVE Engineering, said the site will be pedestrian friendly so people can walk around the development, from the TownePlace Suites by Marriott to the restaurants and retail further south in the property.

“We tried to orient the buildings so as to create a small neighborhood,” Venture said.

Previously a large restaurant was planned for that plot of land.

Holloway said the developer is asking for a setback waiver, parking perimeter screening plantings waiver and to relocate the trash enclosures.

The board will consider the conditional use application at its meeting Thursday.

Cranberry Springs has six parts to its first phase of development. The northern part of the property is in its undeveloped phase 2.
