John L. Marburger
John L. Marburger, 87, of Evans City passed away on Friday while under the care of the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born April 1, 1930, in Callery, he was the son of the late Carl W. and Rose O. Strable Marburger.
John was a member of the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier.
John retired from Halstead Industries in 1992 as a purchasing manager.
He was a life-long sportsman and a life member of the Mars Rod and Gun Club, the NRA, the Harrisville Deer Hunters Association and Evans City American Legion Post 219.
John also enjoyed a long career of competitive trap shooting as an ATA member. He enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States, including Alaska. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren, family and friends. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Pamela (Timothy) Rape of Evans City, and Brian (Karen) Marburger of Colchester, Conn.; his grandchildren, John K. Marburger and Catherine D. Marburger; and his sister, Ruth Ann Smith of Fredericktown, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Clara Henshaw Marburger, whom he married on April 13, 1957, and who passed away on Sept. 12, 2016.
