Frank L. Choura

Frank L. Choura, 79, of Ellwood City passed away Monday while under the care of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born April 14, 1938, in Mars, he was the son of the late Frank Choura and Esther Davidson Choura.

Frank was retired and had been employed by many of the area car dealerships as a mechanic in their service departments.

As a young man, Frank began dirt circle track racing in 1960. He became a well-known engine builder and mechanic and held many track championships in the tri-state area. He raced at Daytona Motor Speedway in Florida in 1969 and 1975. His career lasted for 28 years. He was elected to the Circle Track Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Twin State Auto Club Hall of Fame in 2016.

He was an avid snowmobiler and a past member of the Pennsylvania Snow Seekers. He loved to camp, boat and water ski with his family. He also enjoyed going to Florida and spending time with his family at the beach. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Frank leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Margaret Beighlea Choura, whom he married Dec. 30, 1960; his son, Frank C. “Jake” Choura and his wife, Sherri, of Evans City; his daughters, Lana Klein and her husband, Dave, of Prospect, and Cindy Paslawski and her husband, Eugene, of Cranberry Township; his grandchildren, Ayron Roccon and her husband, Ray, Chad Melberg and his wife, Lisa, Zac Miller, Hollie Miller, Lindsey Choura, Chelsea Choura, and Kymee Choura; his great-grandchildren, Rylee Roccon, Levi Roccon and Kaleigh Choura; his five step-grandchildren; his sister, Laura Gold of Mars; his aunt; many nieces and nephews; and his close friends, Ed Melberg and Mark Miller.

In addition to his parents, Frank was also preceded in death by a grandson, Alex Choura.

CHOURA — In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services for Frank L. Choura, who died Monday, Feb. 26, 2018.His family suggests donations be made to Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.His arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
