LATROBE — Hunter Jones, 17, of Karns City was named Outstanding Bench Presser, Outstanding Deadlifter and won Push/Pull awards at the recent Sons of Thunder Powerlifting’s Westmoreland County Teen Bench Press & Deadlift meet.

Jones weighs 160 pounds. He bench pressed 300 and deadlifted 505.

[naviga:h3]SRU athletes gain PSAC honors[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior Anderson Novalin and freshman Skyla O’Connor have received weekly awards from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Novalin was named PSAC Men’s Indoor Athlete of the Week after breaking his own SRU and Haitian national record in the shot put with a toss of 17.26 meters at the Grand Valley State Invitational.

O’Connor was named PSAC West Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week. She averaged 8.5 points off the bench in wins over Mercyhurst and Clarion.
