SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University baseball team is picked to finish third in the PSAC West in the league’s preseason coaches poll.
Mercyhurst received five first-place votes and is picked to win the West, followed by Seton Hill. The Griffins received three first-place votes.
West Chester is the overwhelming choice to win the PSAC East, followed by Shippensburg and Millersville.

Novak Djokovic says he had a “small medical intervention” on his bothersome right elbow.
The 12-time Grand Slam champion and former No. 1-ranked player wrote on Instagram on Friday: “It seems like I am on the good road now to full recovery.”
Djokovic sat out the last half of 2017 because of problems with his racket-swinging right arm.

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon will be sidelined for up to eight weeks with a partially torn left quadriceps tendon.
Brogdon suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Bucks’ 108-89 loss at Minnesota on Thursday night. The reigning Rookie of the Year went down after a dunk.
[naviga:h3]Oakley cleared of assault charges[/naviga:h3]
NEW YORK — Former New York Knicks star Charles Oakley has officially been cleared of misdemeanor assault charges stemming from a scuffle with Madison Square Garden security guards last year.
The New York Post reports that a Manhattan judge dismissed the charges Friday. Oakley and prosecutors had agreed to a deal last August that the charges would be erased if Oakley stayed out of trouble for six months.
