Phyllis L. Volquarts

Phyllis L. Volquarts, age 100, of Zelienople went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, in her home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born Oct. 27, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Irene Martindale Volquarts, and sister of the late William “Red” Volquarts and Frances (Al) Volquarts Stoecklein.

Phyllis attended Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh and was an active member of First Bible Baptist Church in Harmony.

She enjoyed giving out Christian tracts, witnessing for Jesus, helping others, shopping, yard sales, reading and spending time with her many friends and family.

She was a beloved custodian for the Seneca area schools, a willing baby sitter, and even used to iron shirts for her neighbor's husband.

Phyllis was a spunky and energetic woman who wore heels well into her 80s and enjoyed walking all over Zelienople. She always had a deep love and appreciation for children and animals, especially her precious cat, Benny.

Phyllis leaves behind to cherish her memory, her nieces and nephews, Carl (Jackie) Stoecklein and their children, Jill, Joanne, Daniel, Christopher, Sara Jane and John, Marilyn (Dennis) Delo, and their children, Michael, Stephen and Kenneth, Linda (Shawn) Niaki, and their children, Michael and Michelle, Ann (David) Bruce, and their children, Andrew, Stephen and Matthew, Mark (Carol) Stoecklein, Jeanne Stoecklein, and her children, Adam and Charles Carpentero; and many great-great-nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Bulkley Hemminger, who assisted Phyllis with her affairs.

VOLQUARTS — The family of Phyllis L. Volquarts will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. David Smith, officiating.She will be laid to rest at English Lutheran Church Cemetery in Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to your local non-kill animal shelter, children's home, or adoption agency.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
