The annual Zelienople Halloween Parade is coming to town this weekend featuring it’s Halloween costume contest with prizes for winners in each of the costume categories.

The parade is organized by the Zelienople Lion’s Club.

“It’s this Saturday at 2 p.m.” said Diane White, Lion’s Club secretary and parade organizer. “It’s rain or shine. We’ll be there.”

The parade will be on Main Street in Zelienople, and registration is at 1 p.m. behind the NexTier Bank.

Hundreds traditionally participate in the parade and many more come to watch the competition for best costumes.

The categories are most original, prettiest, funniest and scariest, said White. Sign-up is at 1 and there will be cash prizes for the winners.

Participants can come as individuals, in groups or on floats.

“It’s always a good crowd,” said White.

For those that would like to volunteer to help with the parade, White said they can meet with organizers at 1 p.m. behind the NexTier Bank.

“We always need volunteers,” she said.
