Emergency responders in Butler revived two people in separate incidents police say they believe were heroin overdoses.

The first incident occurred at 11:11 a.m. Saturday, when Unique S. Wright, 33, of Butler suffered an suspected heroin overdose at an apartment in the 400 block of North Washington Street. Police say a man notified authorities after finding Wright unconscious.

According to a police report the man told emergency responders that he believed Wright had used heroin. Butler Ambulance Service and Butler Fire Department responded to the scene, where paramedics used several doses of Narcan to revive Wright. Police said she confirmed using two stamp bags of heroin and refused further treatment after being revived.

The second suspected overdose occurred at 7:37 p.m. Sunday, when a Beaver County man suffered an apparent overdose in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street.

Police said Todd J. Pate, 36, of Freedom was later revived with Narcan and taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. A 911 caller reported finding Pate lying on the gravel outside a home near Rainbow Cleaners with blood “all over him,” according to police. He was trying to sit up, but he kept falling backward, police said. When officers arrived they found that Pate had fallen on the sidewalk, which was stained with blood, and Pate had a cut on the back of his head and was bleeding from the knuckles.

Police said he regained consciousness after a Butler Ambulance Service crew administered Narcan, but denied taking any drugs. Police said they found no drug paraphernalia on or near Pate. He told police that the last thing he remembered was riding his bike. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
