Three Butler County Prison inmates are awaiting hearings next week on charges of dealing narcotics this past year in Butler.

State police vice officers last week filed the trafficking cases against Bryan K. Doller, 36, of Butler; Rainy M. Rose, 32, of Butler; and Sanya L. Vantassel, 40, of Evans City.

Doller has been in prison since April in connection with an unrelated felony drug arrest and for a state parole violation and Rose has been jailed since Sept. 21 for a probation violation.

Vantassel is already serving a sentence in an unrelated drug case. She also is awaiting trial in Allegheny County in a felony escape case.

The police vice unit on Oct. 2 filed the latest charges against the defendants stemming from separate investigations. Police said the suspects all used cell phones to set up drug deals with police informants.

Doller is accused of arranging to sell 100 stamp bags of heroin on Oct. 6, 2016, at North Jackson and West Brady streets. A week later, according to court documents, he agreed to sell another 100 bags on Oct. 13, 2016, at North Main and West Penn streets.

Police said the deals were completed but toxicology tests later revealed the bags contained a combined 15.2 grams, or a little more than one-half ounce, of fentanyl.

A synthetic opioid, fentanyl is about 50 times stronger than heroin.

Rose allegedly sold four stamp bags of heroin Feb. 29, 2016, at East Pearl and Second streets. State police lab tests confirmed the bags contained heroin, documents said.

Police said Vantassel sold 10 stamp bags of heroin and an “8 ball” of crack cocaine on Feb. 18, 2016, on North Street. An 8 ball is about one-eighth of an ounce of crack.

District Judge William Fullerton on Wednesday arraigned all three defendants on felony charges of delivery of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Preliminary hearings are set for Oct. 16.
