PennDOT project manager Doug Zubal waits Thursday to discuss a project to replace a small bridge on Route 268 east of Emlenton in Allegheny Township during the summer of 2019.

ALLEGHENY TWP — A state Department of Transportation project to replace a culvert under Route 268 southeast of Emlenton will commence in the summer of 2019.

Representatives from PennDOT District 10 offered a presentation of project plans on Thursday night at the township building, but no residents turned up to view the renderings.

The 16-foot culvert that pipes Lowery Run under Route 268 is structurally deficient and will be replaced with a more modern version, said Doug Zubal, a PennDOT project manager.

The road over the culvert will also be replaced, Zubal said.

The $1.3 million project will cause Route 268 to be reduced to one lane during construction with a portable traffic light at each end.

Zubal said the project should be completed over the summer.

Route 268 runs along the Allegheny River past Foxburg and into Emlenton, where it ends.
