Members of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church and the Friends of the Poor of St. Vincent de Paul marched through downtown Butler Saturday to bring awareness to programs offered by the organization. This is the first time the Butler chapter has been involved in the “Every Mile Counts Walk/Run For The Poor” with the hopes to help raise funds for the organization which operates the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, a thrift store in Lyndora and a warehouse operation in East Butler. Susan Oliver-Stough, district president for Butler County said money raised helps finance the group’s client aid programs, helping those in short-term emergency need pay rent, utility bills or medical bills. “We work closely with the community,” she said. “We have tremendous support from the people of Butler County because there is such a great need in our county.
