Drug dealer sentenced to state prison
A Butler Township woman, charged alongside four others with drug distribution, was sentenced to state prison in Butler County Court on Thursday.
Maryrose M. Hatfield, 37, was sentenced to 15 to 30 months in a state correctional facility by county Judge Timothy McCune. She also was sentenced to 12 months probation following the prison sentence and parole.
Hatfield previously pleaded guilty to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance — heroin, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia in two cases on Sept. 6.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Butler County Drug Task Force into drug sales from Hatfield's apartment at 600 Hansen Ave., Lyndora, since mid-February.
Following a search warrant on March 22, Hatfield was charged alongside Bryant K. Wells Jr., 26; Jemeal M. Youngblood, 19; and Marcus A. Wells, 23, all of Pittsburgh; and Breanna J. Aldrich, 18, of Connellsville, with two counts of felony possession with intent to deliver, one count of criminal conspiracy, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
The remaining charges against Hatfield were dismissed as part of the plea.
Officers seized 215 stamp bags of suspected heroin, about 9 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale, a small amount of marijuana, and $664 in cash as well as multiple cell phones, according to court records.
Hatfield also was charged with the paraphernalia count after an incident on March 13, where police said she was in possession of a syringe, spoons, empty stamp bags and crack-cocaine containers.
She was arraigned and held in the Butler County Prison on $26,000 total bail.
Of the other defendants, Wells Jr. was held on $75,000 cash bail and was later sentenced to two to four years in state prison; Marcus Wells continues to be held on $50,000 bail after pleading guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana Wednesday and will be sentenced on Oct. 5 to 30 days to six months, as well as fines and court costs; Youngblood was held on $50,000 bail and was recently released on his own recognizance after his bail changed pending further court proceedings; and Aldrich awaits further proceedings after posting her $25,000 bail the day after the charges.
