SLIPPERY ROCK — The second of three candidates to succeed Slippery Rock University’s former president, Cheryl Norton, visited campus on Wednesday, keeping to a schedule of interviews with students, faculty and community members.

Bruce Murphy, who is currently president of Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., was the second candidate to visit SRU this week.

On Monday the school hosted Marsha Krotseng, the president of Bluefield State College in Bluefield, W.Va. On Friday Amir Mohammadi, SRU’s current vice president for finance, administration and advancement services will go through the interview process.

All of the candidates will go through the same schedule, which begins at 8 a.m., when they have breakfast with the search committee, and ends at 8 p.m., when they have dinner with the committee’s chairman, Jeffrey Smith.

In between those meetings the candidates will take part in a variety of interviews and tours with stakeholders on SRU’s campus.

Following the campus visits, the university’s council of trustees will vote on Oct. 6 to send two candidates’ names to the State System of Higher Education’s board of governors. The board of governors will then interview the two finalists and select the university’s next president.
