TV, phone, video game shot at
PETROLIA — A man is accused of firing a pistol at a cell phone and video game console belonging to his girlfriend's son during an altercation at his home Sunday night.
State police said Robert M. Myers Sr., 49, later fired two more rounds into a television in the son's bedroom at the family's home on Jamison Street in Petrolia.
No one was hurt but Myers was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is free on $5,000 unsecured bail.
A call shortly after 8 p.m. for multiple shots fired at the house sent troopers to the defendant's home, according to court documents. Police said after they surrounded the house, Myers came out on his own.
Motivation for the incident apparently came from Myers' anger at his girlfriend's son.
He allegedly got his .45-caliber pistol and took the son's phone and Xbox 360 outside, according to a police affidavit, and “fired multiple rounds” into the items.
He then went back into the house and “fires two additional rounds” through the TV.
His girlfriend was standing in the bedroom doorway near the TV.
One of the rounds, police noted, passed through the outside wall of the home and onto the street.
Myers' preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 3 at the office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora.
