A tractor-trailer tipped over and hit a utility pole and fire hydrant near the exit ramp for Interstate 79 at Route 68 in Jackson Township early Monday. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, police said.

JACKSON TWP — A truck driver was charged with driving under the influence after his tractor-trailer overturned early Monday.

Jackson Township police said the driver, Myron Eugene Harbor, 48, of Atlanta, was exiting Interstate 79 at Exit 87 to Route 68 and did not realize how short the ramp was. He was traveling about 68 mph coming up the ramp, police said, and ran the stop sign.

“He tried to turn left and the load shifted and over he went,” said Chief Terry Seilhamer of the township police.

The rig tipped over on its right side and hit a utility pole and fire hydrant on Route 68, police said. The call came in to police at 1:42 a.m.

Harbor tested positive on a preliminary breath test, but he refused a blood test, Seilhamer said. He was arrested and remains in the Butler County Jail.

He is being charged with DUI and other summary offenses.

The truck was loaded with men's supplements, which had to be unloaded by hand before the truck and trailer could be put upright and moved off the road. There was a lane restriction while the truck was unloaded, Seilhamer said.
