CONNOQUENESSING TWP — Firefighters rescued a man from an ATV rollover at a pipeline work site off Shannon Road about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The man was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital with serious injuries, said Dave Bestwick, Butler Township Station 3 assistant fire chief.

The accident happened about one mile from the road and firefighters from the Butler Township and Connoquenessing departments had to access the scene using off-road capable vehicles.

Butler Township used its squad vehicle and a Stokes basket to extricate the patient, who was on a hillside, Bestwick said.

Butler Ambulance Service also responded. State police were investigating the accident, though a police report with more information was not available at press time.
