John and Harriet Garing

John and Harriet Garing of Chicora are celebrating 50 years of marriage with a family dinner and family cruise.

Garing married the former Harriet Groves on Sept. 9, 1967, in Chicora.

They have three children, Kimberly (Brian), John (Ann Marie) and Tom (Tracy), all of Chicora.

They also have eight grandchildren.

Garing worked for 50 years at Penreco. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mrs. Garing worked at the Penreco Butler office and Al Depew Financial Services.

The Garings are members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Chicora Senior Center.
