'In Harmony' festival celebrates traditional music

HARMONY — The “In Harmony” Heritage Music Festival, sponsored Historic Harmony, is coming to the Harmonist barn and other historic venues from 7 to 10:30 p.m. July 28 and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 29.

The festival will celebrate the traditional music of the Appalachian and Allegheny Mountain regions.

The Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Drifters will headline Friday night’s festivities, and Cello Fury will kick off the evening Saturday.

Other groups scheduled to perform include The Hill and the Rivers, Old Song Rescue Society, Pittsburgh Historic Music Society Orchestra, Snappin’ Bug String Band, Sarah Sternaka and Devin Sherman, “Gertrude Rapp” and the Silk House Singers, Well Strung, Pittsburgh Banjo Club, South Wind, Midnight Rooster, Mirror Trio, and The Wayward Companions.

The festival also will feature student musicians.

The event will include vendors and a beer garden featuring local brewers.

Weekend passes are $10. Seniors, youths and Harmony Museum members can purchase tickets for $7. Children younger than 5 will be admitted free.
