Butler County is paving Alameda Park Road after it was damaged by flooding July 5.

The county commissioners on Wednesday approved advertising for bids to pave the section of the road still in use.

The lower section of the park was closed July 6 due to the damage.

The road was patched earlier this month, so it could be reopened.

A portion of the road, which formerly was a back route into the city, has been closed to vehicle traffic for several years.

Courthouse project

The commissioners approved a $13,349 change order from Uhl Construction of Allison Park for extra work needed outside the county courthouse.

The added repairs include excavation and underpinning along the north side of the building.

The change order is part of an overall increase of nearly $21,000 to the original $237,500 contract.

After work began, building foundation gaps were uncovered.

The project entailed rerouting rainwater to prevent further damage to the basement walls and floor.

The commissioners also granted Uhl a 90-day extension from July 31 to Oct. 31 to replace the bollards — thick posts meant to block vehicles — in front of the government center.
