Anthony M. Cehelsky

Anthony M. Cehelsky, 92, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 9, 1924, in East Butler, he was the son of the late John and Cecelia Duria Cehelsky.

He previously worked at Pullman-Standard in the payroll department. He later went to work for Magnetics in scheduling and shipping. He was also the tape core supervisor for Magnetics. He retired in 1985 following 30 years service.

He was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and a lector. He also was a member of the church choir.

His family came first in his life. He was a mentor for the Ad Altare Dei Catholic Boy Scouts Award for 20 years. He was a scout leader associated with Troop 6 of Butler.

In his younger years, he was a fisherman, which he introduced to his children. He had several passions: He was an avid bowler who enjoyed dancing, camping and baseball, especially the Pirates. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking and watching the world news.

Surviving are his six children, Helen (William) Wales of Kansas, Gary (Lana) Cehelsky of Illinois, Connie (Rick) Schontz of Butler, Kathie (Donald) Barto of Butler, Patrice (Leroy) Hetrick of Worthington and Carol (Paul) Fleming of Butler; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Crawford Cehelsky, who died Jan. 11, 2012; they were married Feb. 9, 1952; four sisters; and four brothers.

CEHELSKY — Friends of Anthony M. Cehelsky, who died Saturday, April 1, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with the Rev. Nicholas Argentieri, pastor, to officiate.
