Ellen A. Roberts
Ellen A. Roberts, 89, of Butler passed away Friday at the UPMC Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh.
She was born Nov. 1, 1927, in New Martinsville, W.Va., to the late W. H. “Bob” White and the late Anita Wiley Westerman White.
Mrs. Roberts was a 1946 graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, receiving her bachelor's degree in fine arts. She was an advertising director of Parsons-Souders Department Store in Clarksburg, W.Va.
Ellen was the president of the Maryland Association of Retarded Children. She was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church. She was the founder of the Hong Kong Women's Investment Club and the Women's Investment Network in Butler.
Ellen was also an art teacher in Charleston, W.Va., and in charge of the reception for the 1968 inauguration of Vice President Spiro Agnew at the Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
Ellen liked antiques, early American glass and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, who she married Sept. 29, 1951; two daughters, Amy L. (Ronald) Uram of Butler and Claire (Dirk) Langford of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Uram of Butler, Katherine (Joel) Caracciolo of Cranberry Township and David (Jessica) Uram of Slippery Rock; and three great-grandchildren, Connor Joel Caracciolo of Cranberry Township, Luca Michael Uram of Butler and Willabea Rose Uram of Slippery Rock.
ROBERTS — Friends of Ellen A. Roberts, who died Friday, March 24, 2017, will be received 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler.Funeral services will be immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Merry H. Meloy, pastor, officiating.
