Kenneth Victor Fry

Kenneth Victor Fry, 88, of Butler passed away Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Butler Township to the late Victor A. Fry and the late Della Lechner Fry.

Ken served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the 112th Regiment during the Korean War and the National Guard PA 28th Division. He was an electrician for IBEW Local 10, retiring Jan. 1, 1991, and was recently recognized as a 60-year member of the IBEW.

Ken volunteered at Butler Memorial Hospital and also volunteered 1,000 hours for wiring at PARC. He also served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 12. Ken was a member of the Meridian Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janice “Jan” Marilyn Oesterling Fry, whom he married May 6, 1949; one son, Kenneth Paul Fry of Butler; three daughters, Marcie Otterson and her husband, John, of Enola, Sandy Mailloux of Butler and Joyce Braun and her husband, Donald, of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert D. Fry of Frostproof, Fla., and Raymond E. Fry of Wexford; two sisters, Victoria A. Dunbar of Youngsville and Jean Buchanan of Fort Collins, Colo.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Thompson and Ruth Lewis.

FRY — Friends of Kenneth Victor Fry, who died Sunday, March 12, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Stephen M. Franklin of the Meridian Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Dennis Molnar of the Unity Presbyterian Church in Greentree officiating. Burial will take place at the Butler County Memorial Park.Officers and members of American Legion Post 117 Butler, American Legion Post 778 Lyndora and VFW Post 249 Butler will conduct military honors at the church following the service.Memorials are suggested to Hosanna Industries Inc., 109 Rinard Lane, Rochester, PA 15074.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
