'Impressions'

Amanda Demmler's artwork is part of the exhibit running through Saturday at the Butler Art Center.
Exhibit features SRU artists

The Butler Art Center is hosting an exhibit of the work of 20 artists from the Slippery Rock University art department through Saturday. Admission is free.

These participating artists are all members of the professional practice course Art Seminar, taught by Heather Hertel, associate professor of art.

Exhibiting artists include: Angela DeLuca, Amanda Demmler, Jessica Durban, Joshua Ebel, Alyssa Edinger, Kaci Flora, Caitlin Guilot, Brianna Hannon, Megan Hulings, Lindsey Knaby, Kasey Kurpakus, Erin Pandolfino, Lindsey Pauline, Michael Putorti, Mikia Reid, Jessica Schrecengost, Mikaela Skiljo, Nicolette Wakefield, Tyra Welsh and Justine Zimmerman.

The show's title, “Impressions,” was selected by the students to represent the concept that each piece is a peek in to the life and mind of the artist who created it, as well as giving the viewer a chance to create his or her own interpretation.

The exhibit offers works in both two and three dimensional aspects including a variety of media such as printmaking, fibers, ceramics, photography, digital, painting, metals and drawing.

The Art Center at 344 S. Main St. is open regularly from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Call 724-283-6922 or visit ButlerArtCenter.org.

Upcoming exhibits at the Art Center include a Members Only Show from April 23 to May 6, and a Small Works Art Show from May 26 to June 1.
