2 SV students win national art awards

The photograph “Ennui” by Seneca Valley High School junior Jack Reynolds won a gold medal in the 2017 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.

JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley High School students Jack Reynolds and Anna Sullivan have been identified by a panel of creative professionals as being in the top one percent of high school artists nationwide.

The two artists earned national medals out of the 330,000 works of art and writing that were submitted to the 2017 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.

Jack, a junior, won a gold medal for his photograph “Ennui.”Anna, a senior, won a silver medal for her ceramic sculpture “The Road Traveled.”They are invited to a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 8. Art and writing from gold medalists also will be featured in the national exhibition at Parsons School of Design at The New School and Pratt Institute's Pratt Manhattan Gallery June 2 to 12.
