PENN TWP — A Pittsburgh man likely will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident after an alleged hit-and-run Wednesday.

Around 11 a.m., Matthew Souverin, 33, allegedly was in an accident with a wide-load tractor trailer that was turning onto Brownsdale Road from Route 8 southbound, officer Steve Sentar of the township police said.

Souverin’s Jeep Grand Cherokee was totaled, though he allegedly left the scene and continued south into Middlesex Township, where he was later found by police pulled over on the side of the road.

Despite a call to 911 stating that there were two people in the Jeep, police believe he was alone.

Souverin earlier that morning had been stopped by a state trooper in Butler, who had issued him a citation for driving with a suspended license.

The crash is still under investigation.
