Butler Police12:49 a.m. Oct. 6 — Christopher D. Otto, 31, of Butler lost control of his car and struck a fire hydrant at Brown and Glenn avenues. Police said he drove back to his home several hundred feet away, following the crash.According to a police report, Otto and his passenger, Tony Kildoo, 38, of Butler, suffered apparent minor injuries.Officers later followed a trail of leaking vehicle fluid to Otto’s house. Police charged him with hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license-DUI related and causing an accident involving injury.
Butler Twp Police Monday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Harold D. Wilson Jr., 23, no known address, on charges he shoplifted a television and home theater system from the Walmart at Butler Commons.Wilson is accused of entering the store Sept. 15 and going to the home improvement section, where he took a set of pliers. He used the pliers, according to court documents, to cut the spider wrap on the 49-inch TV and the entertainment system, valued at a combined $426.The alleged shoplifter left the store with the items, which he had in a shopping cart, and drove away. Store surveillance video helped identify Wilson.He is charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and driving with a suspended license.
State Police, ButlerMonday — William J. Simmons III, 18, of Donegal Township was charged with leading police on a chase aboard an all-terrain vehicle on Route 268 in Fairview Township.A trooper was on patrol about 5:40 p.m. Aug. 21 when he spotted two ATVs on Route 268 at Fairmont Road, according to court documents. Police said the officer chased the ATVs until they traveled off the road and into the woods near the Gino’s Dairy Stand.Police used surveillance video and social media to identify the suspects — Simmons and a juvenile.Simmons is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving an ATV on a street and unsafe driving on an ATV.It was not immediately known if the other suspect was charged in juvenile court.
State Police, Kittanning1:36 p.m. Sept. 30 — An unknown vandal damaged a township-owned vehicle and a tank inside the Washington Township Municipal Building.
State Police, Mercer12:01 a.m. Wednesday — A 15-year-old Grove City girl was arrested for felony assault after she allegedly kicked, bit and spit on a trooper in Mercer.Police said they were taking the girl, who they did not identity, to the Keystone Adolescent Center in Greenville when she repeatedly tried to remove her seat belt.When the teen eventually managed to unbuckle the seat belt, police stopped the cruiser at Pitt and Erie streets in Mercer. One of the troopers got out and as he was refastening her seat belt, she spit in his face, according to a police report.The girl also kicked the trooper twice and bit his forearm.She is charged, as an adult, with aggravated assault on a police officer, and is being held in the Mercer County Jail.
