SEVEN FIELDS — Members of borough council Monday night said they want to continue having a community carnival on Labor Day weekend.

This year was the seventh annual community carnival, but it was the second year it was held in late August and early September and the first year with a slightly larger budget.

The borough spent $24,128 of its budgeted $25,000 and also anticipates a check of $1,500 from the revenue brought in by Bartlebaugh Amusements, the company that runs the rides and games at the event.

In past years the event had a budget of $20,000. The extra money this year went toward getting two musical performers that are well known in the region and advertising, Smith said.

“Visibly it did make a difference. We had more people, especially Saturday night,” he said.

The Evans City/Seven Fields Regional Police Department reported no problems and no arrests, he said.

Council members said that they saw some posts on social media from neighbors complaining about noise and traffic, though most of the feedback they received was positive.

“It was three to one, positive versus negative, for me,” council member Jack Oakley said.

Council President Jennifer Sikora also said she heard mostly good comments and suggested that the borough try to schedule Bartlebaugh for the same weekend next year.
