JACKSON TWP — Police say a 15-year-old boy made a false bomb threat Wednesday in the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School.

The school was evacuated before noon after a handwritten threat was discovered in a bathroom, said Jackson Township Police Chief Terry Seilhamer.

It allegedly said that the school would blow up at noon.

The students and staff from the building went to the senior high school and all the buildings on the district’s secondary campus were put on lockdown.

Officers with the department and school administrators conducted an investigation and discovered that the handwriting of the threat was very similar to the handwriting of the student who reported finding the threat. That student later allegedly provided a statement admitting to making the threat, Seilhamer said.

The student will face discipline from the district and will possibly face a misdemeanor terroristic threats charge in juvenile court. He and his family could also potentially be billed by emergency responders who had to use time and resources to respond to the false threat, Seilhamer said.

When police determined that there was no bomb, students and staff were able to return to school after about two hours.
