WACO, Texas — Nancy Wilson of Butler received a Provost’s Gold Scholarship from Baylor University.

Baylor’s merit scholarships are awarded on the basis of class rank and/or SAT/ACT scores.

Wilson is a graduate of Butler High School.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Susan Francino of Renfrew was initiated into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Francino was initiated at Hillsdale College in Michigan.

SHIPPENSBURG — Six local youths, who will soon be in 12th grade, were among the 237 students who graduated from the Pennsylvania American Legion Keystone Boys State program.

It is a weeklong civic leadership program organized by the American Legion Department of Pennsylvania.

The following Butler County students attended:

Caleb Bowser is a student at Freeport High School.

Justin Ellis and Gavin Terwilliger are students at Butler High School.

Jacob Love and Michael Renaud are students at Knoch High School.

William McGuire is a student at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School.

They learned about the rights, privileges and responsibilities of American citizens through participating in simulated city, county and state governments.
