Mars Brew Fest is June 25 in town square

MARS — Although the second annual Mars New Year won’t happen until next year, the Space Bar from last year’s event will open in June.

Mars Mayor Gregg Hartung announced the Mars Brew Fest will be from 6 to 9 p.m. June 25 in the town square next to the flying saucer.

Between eight and 12 brewers will serve their craft beer. Music, food, a 50/50 raffle and gift basket raffles also will be available.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the 2017 Mars New Year and the borough’s downtown revitalization project.

Hartung said Brew Fest tickets can be bought online for $20 or at the event for $25, which will allow the purchaser to taste six beers or wines. The engraved glass provided to taste the beers or wines is included in the admission price.

Additional tastings or extra engraved glasses will cost $5 each, Hartung said.

The Mars Brew Fest is coordinated by the Butler Society of Home Brewers.

More information and advance tickets are available at www.marsnewyear.com.

The Mars New Year is held every other year because it takes the Red Planet two years to revolve around the sun.
