More than 150 fifth graders from Slippery Rock and Moraine elementary schools took part in a “Day of Learning” event May 2 at the Lemieux UPMC Sports Center in Cranberry Township. Students heard speakers discuss bullying, sports fitness, healthy eating habits, motivation skills and drug and alcohol prevention. The group also toured the Pittsburgh Penguins practice facility and were able to watch players practice before ice skating. The activity was funded by a grant provided by the Slippery Rock Rotary Cub and Rotary District 7280.
