County women, teens vie for crowns
A total of 15 young women and teens will compete for the titles of Miss Butler County USA and Miss Butler County Teen USA. The pageants are scheduled for 7 p.m. April 24 at the Kean Theatre on the campus of the St. Barnabas Health System in Gibsonia.
The competitions are preliminaries to the national Miss Teen USA pageant and the nationally televised Miss USA pageant, both part of The Miss Universe Organization.
Each contestant will appear onstage in an evening gown and one-piece swimsuit following one-on-one interviews with the judges before the pageant.
Judging is based on poise, personality, stage presence and overall appearance.
The master of ceremonies will be Lamont Jones, a fashion editor and stylist and 2011 inductee into the Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame.
The newly crowned pageant winners will be awarded entry into the Miss Pennsylvania USA or Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA pageants set for December and will receive various goods and services.
Runners-up will receive trophies. Semifinalists will receive plaques. Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality trophies will be awarded.
The pageant executive director is Mrs. Marilyn E. Kane with Miss Marilyn Kane as pageant coordinator.
Tickets to attend both pageants, which will run simultaneously, cost $15. Tickets are available from the contestants, at the Kane Modeling School, 110 Morgan Center, or by calling 724-287-0576. Tickets also will be sold at the door.

Miss Butler County USA
n Alyssa Barnhart, 20, is the daughter of Ralph and Debra Barnhart of Butler. She is a 2014 graduate of Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. She is a youth and worship leader at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church and volunteers for mission trips in the United States and the Dominican Republic.
n Randa Reges, 19, is the daughter of Randall Reges and Theresa Sherman of East Butler. She is a senior at Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. She volunteers with the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
n Mackenzie Thompson, 19, is the daughter of Doug and Linda Thompson of Volant. She is a 2015 graduate of Grove City High School and a freshman at Butler County Community College majoring in child development. She volunteers at homeless shelters, VA Butler Healthcare and the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.
n Hope Vitous, 22, is the daughter of Robert and Christine Pflugh of Butler. A 2012 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, she is a student at Butler County Community College where she is on the dean's list.
n Erin Wamsley, 18, is the daughter of Luellen Henderson of Butler. She is a senior at Knoch High School where she has been a high honors student for her entire high school career.
Miss Butler County Teen USA
n Arielle Alfonso, 18, is the daughter of Juan and Denise Alfonso of Gibsonia. She is a junior at Mars High School where she is an honor roll student and participates in the Art Club.
n Cheyenne Andres, 16, is the daughter of Ray and Collette Andres of Renfrew. She is a sophomore at Seneca Valley Intermediate School where she is an honor roll students and participates in the CARE Anti-Bullying Club and child care for preschool and elementary students.
n Lexie Ball, 16, is the daughter of Bruce and Kathleen Ball of Butler. She is a sophomore at Butler High School where she is a member of the selected women's ensemble. She volunteers at St. John's Reformed Church and Fishbone Ministries, both in Butler.
n Danielle Bowser, 15, is the daughter of Tracy and the late Scott Bowser and the granddaughter of Mary Ellen Bowser of Baden, with whom she lives. She is a freshman at Ambridge Area High School where she is a straight-A Highest Honor Roll student.
n Madison Frasinelli, 17, is the daughter of Randy Frasinelli of Pittsburgh and Saundra Marks of Gibsonia. She is a junior at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School where she is an Honor Roll student, varsity cheerleader and member of the yearbook staff. She also volunteers for mission work.
n Karina Latsko, 16 is the daughter of Michael and Donna Latsko of Cranberry Township. She is a junior at Seneca Valley High School where she is a Highest Honor Roll student, captain of the varsity lacrosse team and on the executive board of student council. She volunteers for the Miracle League.
n Hailey Macmillan, 16 is the daughter of Ian and Desiree Macmillan of Boyers. She is a junior at Moniteau High School where she is a member of the media club. She volunteers for several charities.
n Marlisa Miller, 15, is the daughter of Mindy Miler of Butler. She is a sophomore at Knoch High School where she is an Honor Roll student, member of the track team, junior varsity cheerleader and violinist in the high school orchestra. She participates in fundraising walks and volunteers for several charities.
n Alicia Pflugh, 15, is the daughter of Robert and Christine Pflugh of Butler. She is a freshman at Slippery Rock High School where she is a High Honor Roll student, varsity cheerleader and a member of the track and softball teams.
n Tina Roth, 15, is the daughter of Paul and Tracy Roth of Butler. She is a freshman at Butler Intermediate High School where she throws javelin on the varsity track team. She is a fundraiser and advocate for Juvenile Arthritis.
