Penn sets group home hearing

PENN TWP — The application for a group home in the township will be the focus of a hearing Monday.

The home is proposed by Valley Community Services for a property on Railroad Street in Renfrew.

“I think it’s for disabled children,” said township manager Linda Zerfoss.

The hearing will be at 6 p.m. at the township municipal building.

According to its website, Valley Community is a private, nonprofit agency that began in Southwestern Pennsylvania. It provides early learning programs for children in infancy through school-age, residential programs for children and adolescents with autism, and long-term care for those who need nursing support and other specialized services.

Also according to its website, Valley Community in Butler County offers behavioral support services, community living arrangements, home and community habilitation and intermediate care facilities to people with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Valley Community did not respond to call for comment.
