Accused robber turns himself in
A man being sought by Butler police for robbing a woman turned himself in to authorities Wednesday.
But before his surrender, Shane Jacob Summerville allegedly shot up several bags of heroin, police said.
Summerville, 28, who has no known address, is accused of stealing $200 from 24-year-old Brittany Lambing after he showed up Friday afternoon at her home in the 300 block of Second Street asking to use her telephone.
Lambing told police that when she let him inside, the defendant accosted her and snatched the money out of her hand, according to court documents. He ran to a car parked nearby and drove away.
The alleged victim suffered apparent minor injuries in the suspected crime.
Police on Monday obtained an arrest warrant for Summerville, a drug felon who is currently on county probation.
About 1 p.m. Wednesday, police said, the defendant showed up at the adult probation office in Butler to give himself up on the warrant.
He later provided a written statement to probation authorities in which he acknowledged injecting four stamp bags of heroin before his arrival, police said.
Summerville was arraigned on a charge of robbery and released on his own recognizance. His preliminary hearing is set for April 4 before District Judge William Fullerton.
