Autopsy proves inconclusive

Cheyenne Warner
Woman died in dorm room

It’s still unknown why 22-year-old Cheyenne Warner of Butler County died Sunday in her dormitory room at Duquesne University.

An autopsy conducted Monday was inconclusive, and tests will be needed to determine a cause and manner of death, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office.

Results of toxicology and tissue are pending and could take from eight to 24 weeks, a supervisor at the office said this morning.

Toxicology screenings will determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor, and tissue samples will be analyzed for any disease or illness that could have contributed to Warner’s death.

The daughter of Richard and Heidi Warner of Brady Township, she was pronounced dead shortly before 5:30 p.m. after being found unresponsive in Brottier Hall on Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh.

Warner’s parents on Monday, before the autopsy, said the medical examiner’s office told them the death was not considered suspicious.

Warner was a graduate student at Duquesne University and was studying to be a high school physics teacher. She planned to graduate in May with a master’s degree in education.

She earned her bachelor’s degree, majoring in science and mathematics, from the university last year.

She was a 2011 graduate of Slippery Rock High School.

The Jay Bryan Funeral Home in Prospect is handing funeral arrangements.
