The Butler boys bowling team reached the WPIBL championship at North Versailles Bowl Saturday, but lost to Hempfield 2-0.

Butler was third after the qualifying round and was led by Matt Wetzel, who rolled a 573 series with a high game of 207.

Nick Huff rolled a 562 series and a high game of 211 and Shawn Marcellus rolled a 552 series, bouncing back from a 131 in his first game for a high-game of 247 in his second.

The Butler girls were fourth after qualifying, but fell in their first match, 2-0, to Armstrong.

Nicole Nebel paced the Golden Tornado with a 523 series and a high game of 193.
