JACKSON TWP — Dorabella White, a Seneca Valley Middle School seventh grade student, recently was notified by the National Geographic Society that she is one of the semifinalists who will compete in the 2016 Pennsylvania National Geographic State Bee in April.
This is the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition. After winning her school's bee, White took an online qualifying test.
The National Geographic Society invited up to 100 of the top-scoring students to participate in the state competition.

EDINBORO — Tracy Geibel of Butler is one of two editors for Edinboro University's student-run newspaper, “The Spectator,” which captured four Student Keystone Press Awards, including first place for best website.
Geibel, who is a senior journalism major, also took second place in the feature story category for “Mysterious, inspiring notes stick across campus restrooms.”
The Pennsylvania New Media Association sponsors the Student Keystone Press Awards, which recognize college and high school journalism that demonstrates “relevance, integrity and initiative in serving readers.” Edinboro competed with colleges and universities with fewer than 10,000 students.
