RENFREW — Launchapalooza, a grand opening celebration of two new public accesses to the Connoquenessing Creek, will be at 10:30 a.m. June 4 near the bridge over the creek in Renfrew.

The free Allegheny Aquatic Alliance event will begin with a float down the Connoquenessing from the Renfrew access point at 101 W. Main St., Renfrew. From 3 to 5 p.m., a celebration will be at 252 Ash Stop Road, Evans City, where a ribbon-cutting ceremony, free food and entertainment, speakers, games, prizes, a silent auction and raffles will be held.

The goal of the event is to promote recreational activities on waterways, to educate the community on the threats to local waters and to encourage public action for watershed preservation.
