EC man charged with stalking estranged wife

EVANS CITY — A borough man is accused of secretly placing a GPS tracker on his estranged wife's car.

The snooping device, investigators said, allowed 36-year-old David M. Tresky to electronically follow his spouse's whereabouts for more than a month last year.

The alleged spy target, Laura Tresky, uncovered the high-tech gadget — attached by a magnet on her car's rear bumper — when the defendant was seen tampering with the vehicle, according to court documents.

District Judge Wayne Seibel Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for Tresky on several charges including intimidation of a witness or victim, a felony.

Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department, in a complaint, noted the defendant's other civil and criminal court cases involved his wife, in which she was to testify against him.

In one of those cases, in 2014, state police allege Tresky vandalized a pickup truck belonging to a male friend of his estranged wife in Clay Township.

Evans City-Seven Fields police began investigating Tresky after a child custody exchange on Oct. 22, 2015, when he arrived at his wife's house on Van Buren Street to pick up their daughter, documents said.

Laura Tresky, who filed for divorce in May 2014, told investigators that after the defendant left, she “received word” that he “was seen tampering with her vehicle,” according to a police affidavit.

When she went to inspect, she found a Trackimo brand GPS device on her car.

Police later got a search warrant to examine the tracker's data. Investigations subsequently traced the tiny device to Tresky, and learned that it had been activated Sept. 22, 2015.

The tracker, documents said, showed “an extensive list of both notifications and boundary markers or locations.”
