SR woman accused of burglary, forgery

SLIPPERY ROCK — State police have charged a Slippery Rock woman with burglary and forgery in two unrelated cases that have landed her in the Lawrence County Jail on a combined $100,000 bail.

Rhonda L. Eppinger, 36, faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief after state police arrested her Tuesday in connection with two burglaries at a home in the 4000-block of Harlansburg Road in Scott Township, Lawrence County.

Those burglaries occurred between Feb. 20-21 and March 2. Eppinger allegedly stole jewelry that she later sold.

Eppinger also has been charged by state police with forgery, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by deception, identity theft, and criminal conspiracy to commit theft by deception, after state police investigated a case of numerous checks stolen from a Slippery Rock man.

Police say Eppinger stole and forged the checks before cashing them, and conspired with Jonathan B. Coates, 29, of New Castle, to cash one check. Police say she also used the identity of an 18-year-old Slippery Rock woman to cash three of the forged checks.

Coates is charged with forgery, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by deception, and criminal conspiracy to commit theft by deception.

He also is in the Lawrence County Jail on $50,000 bail.
