CRANBERRY TWP — The township supervisors Thursday voted to reject the bids it got for the planned Brush Creek sewage plant renovation and expansion project.

Bids for the four contracts came in at $56 million, much higher than the $40 million estimate made by the township staff.

Supervisors also voted to put out revised contracts for bids that will defer some aspects of the project to a future phase. They hope to save $8.38 million with the changes.

Jason Kratsas, township director of engineering and environmental services, said the new contracts will open for bids March 12 and close April 20. The supervisors can then make an award at their meeting May 5.

The delayed start of construction should not affect the final completion date, in 2019, Kratsas said.
