Second man charged in vandalism spree

Parker Township home damaged

PARKER TWP — State police have charged a second young man in connection with a 2015 vandalism spree that caused thousands of dollars in damage.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton last week issued an arrest warrant for Thomas Lee Hutchinson, 18, of Clearfield Township on a felony count of criminal mischief.

Investigators in January arrested Austin A. George, 20, of Parker for the same alleged crime last May at a home on Maple Furnace Road in Parker Township.

Police said the homeowner was away May 30 when his daughter invited several friends over for a get-together. But during the evening, more and more people came.

At some point that night, vandals entered a barn at the home and slashed the leather seats of a speed boat and the tires of the boat trailer.

The boat’s exterior also was damaged as was an all-terrain vehicle and golf cart

Additionally, an above-ground swimming pool was punctured 12 times with a knife, according to court documents. Inside the house, two chairs and eight women’s shirts and bedsheets were slashed

While investigating the crime scene, police found beer cans in the boat. Troopers eventually lifted fingerprints from at least one of the cans.

Those prints, police said, belonged to George, who was arrested and arraigned Jan. 27 on a felony charged of criminal mischief, theft and underage drinking.

He is free on $40,000 bail while awaiting a preliminary hearing March 22 at Stoughton’s office in Chicora.

Along with felony mischief, Hutchinson also is charged with underage drinking.
