Daniel J. Cuddyre

Daniel J. Cuddyre, 72, of Valencia died Sunday afternoon at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born Oct. 6, 1943, in Meadville, Pa., he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Cecelia Nicholson Cuddyre.

Dan was a steamfitter for the Union Local 449 in Pittsburgh.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was instrumental in the founding of the Marine Corps League and was an active member of the Mars VFW Post 7505, where he had held several offices through the years. He also belonged to the Mars American Legion and the DAV and had volunteered at the Butler VA Medical Center.

A member of St. Kilian Church, he also participated in the Big Brothers of Allegheny County, where he mentored Sam Carson, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Jean Walter Cuddyre, who he married July 25, 1970; his son, Daniel M. Cuddyre of Valencia; his granddaughter, Isla Jean Cuddyre; his sister, Patricia Pasquarella of Los Angeles, Calif.; two nieces, Morgan Roth and Karen Pasquarella; and a great-niece, Bridget Roth.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Roth.

CUDDYRE — Friends of Daniel J. Cuddyre, who died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Kilian Church, corner of Clark and Cherry streets, Mars, with the Rev.
