Rockets secure victory No. 1
Chase Allen’s 3-pointer with 52 seconds left gave the Slippery Rock boys basketball team a 57-54 lead and the Rockets held on for their first win of the season, a 65-60 victory at Conneaut Area Thursday night.
Junior forward Ryan Dutton had an incredible game that included 32 points and 17 rebounds.
Allen finished with 20 points and Luke Brandon grabbed 15 rebounds for Slippery Rock (1-8, 1-5).

Nicole McCloud and Tai Johnson both scored 21 points in Mars’ dominating 68-20 home win against Knoch.
Lauren Wasylson also had a strong game with 16 points, 13 rebounds and four steals for Mars (9-4, 5-0).

Hockey
Mars trailed Hempfield 2-1 entering the third period, but received goals from Andrew Norris and William Scurci to topple the Spartans 3-2 at Kirk S. Nevin Arena.
Scurci opened the scoring with a goal in the first period.
Jonathan Kowalkowski had two assists for the Planets (12-3) while Tyler Spreng earned the win in net with 16 saves.
Bowling
Bryan Hindman rolled a 246 game and 617 series Wednesday, but Knoch dropped a 5-2 decision to Armstrong.
Dylan McCommon rolled a 214-563 for the Knights. Armstrong was led by Seth Schall with a 202-569, Owen Zablocki with a 206-561 and Kyle Totos with a 196-543.
