Elderly resident in Marion Twp. victim of scam
MARION TOWNSHIP — An elderly resident was scammed out of $3,000 in the days after Thanksgiving.
State police said suspects convinced the victim, who lives on Boyers Road, to send them the money after because the victim had won a Publisher’s Clearing House contest.
The suspects said the money was for “customs fees” on the winnings.
The theft occurred between Nov. 27 and Tuesday. Police did not identify the victim.
