Butler Catholic junior varsity runner CJ Singleton finished second in the Diocese of Pittsburgh Catholic Schools Cross Country Championship meet recently at Coopers Lake.

It was the second straight year Singleton placed second in this event, which had 262 runners. He ran the 1.8-mile course in 11 minutes, 45 seconds, just four seconds shy of the champion.

Tim Patterson paced Butler Catholic with a 30th-place finisd out of 158 runners in the varsity race. Caitlin Peratt placed 51st to lead the BCS girls.

Butler Catholic hosted St. Bonaventure of Shaler and St. Gregory of Zelienople for a meet Oct. 5 at Highfield Park. The junior varsity boys won the meet with Singleton breaking his own course record with an 11:09. Noah Collins, Michael Braun, Flint Watson and Nick Rine also scored for the Saints.

The varsity boys finished second to St. Bonaventure. Diesel Losch, John Keelan, Patterson, Sean LeMay and Andrew VanFossen took fifth through ninth place.

Lacy Zagurskie paced the Saints junior varsity girls — who finished second — by taking 14th. Caravel Losch finished seventh for the BCS girls in the varsity race. There was no team scoring.
