Corruption case heard
A 21-year-old man who had child pornography on his cell phone when he left the state with two Cranberry Township girls will spend 3 to 6 months in prison followed by 5 years of probation.
Jordan Skylar Wilson pleaded guilty to two counts of corruption of minors and one count of possessing child pornography.
He was sentenced Thursday by Butler County Court Judge William Shaffer.
According to court records, the girls — 16 and 14 when the incident occurred in September 2012 — were reported missing by their parents who were told by e-mail from the Seneca Valley School District and the Butler County Vocational Technical School that the pair had not been at either school.
According to court records, both sets of parents noted clothing and other items missing from their homes, and one neighbor allegedly saw the girls placing bags into a dark gray Cadillac sedan.
Court records say the parents suspected Wilson because of a phone number they had and some information on a Facebook page belonging to Wilson.
Cranberry Township Police contacted authorities in Marietta, Ohio, where Wilson lived at the time. The girls were found there, unharmed, according to court records.
Investigators then got a search for Wilson’s cell phone and found six pornographic images of children that were believed to be taken between January and August of 2012, according to court records.
Wilson in court told the judge that he knew what he did was wrong, and “I’m here to take full responsibility.”
But the judge responded by asking him where he’d been earlier. An arrest warrant has been issued for Wilson since he failed to show up for court in 2013.
Wilson told the judge he’s been living in West Virginia. He lost his car, his home and his job and “had no way to get to court.”
Authorities will know where Wilson is for at least the next 15 years. As a requirement of the state’s laws regarding sexual offenders, the defendant must report his whereabouts to state police for the next 15 years. A member of the state’s Sexual Offender Assessment Board already determined that Wilson does not meet the criteria to be declared a sexually violent predator.
